Welcome!

Welcome to our camp site for the Fighting Joe Wheeler Sons of Confederate Veterans SCV 1372, a registered Not-For-Profit Corporation in the State of Alabama. We hope that you will explore our site to understand who we are and what we do, all in the name and honor of our Confederate ancestors. We believe Confederate heritage is a part of America's diversity which must be preserved. This includes educating the public about the ethnic diversity that existed in the Confederate ranks. Since Confederate veterans and their descendants include individuals from all races, we invite all male descendants regardless of skin color, ethnicity, and creed to join us in protecting the memory of the Confederate soldier. We defend the right of millions of Americans to express their pride, without harassment and discrimination, regarding their national origin including that which was derived from the former Confederate States of America.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans work in conjunction with other historical groups such as the United Daughters of Confederacy, to preserve Confederate History. However, we are not affiliated with any organization other than the Military Order of the Stars and Bars, composed of male descendants of the Southern officer corps. The Sons of Confederate Veterans reject any group whose actions tarnish or distort the image of the Confederate soldier or his reasons for fighting. This particularly applies to those groups and persons using our cherished flag as a symbol of hatred, or for their own history and heritage of the Confederate States of America.

"To you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we submit the vindication of the Cause for which we fought; to your strength will be given the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his virtues, the perpetuation of those principals he loved and which made him glorious and which you also cherish. Remember it is your duty to see that the true history of the South is presented to future generations."
